FedEx B757Fs ready for take-off

Europe

FedEx Express added four B757 freighters to its fleet to enhance its next-businessday service across eight major European airports.

The operator said the four new aircraft mean next-business-day services are now available to customers in Oslo and will significantly improve services for customers in Sweden, Finland, the UK and the Netherlands, most notably through faster transit times, as well as extended cut-off times.

The extra capacity of the 757, allowing heavier freight shipments of between 68kg and 1,000kg, enables customers in Sweden, Finland and Norway to ship overnight, customs-cleared and door-to-door to the US east coast for the first time.

Mr. Will Martin, managing director (MD) of UK FedEx Express Operations, said: “By bringing four Boeing 757s into Northern Europe to operate these pivotal routes, we are underlining our ongoing commitment to the growth of our presence in Europe.

“The introduction of these aircraft offer customers more time to prepare packages and get them to their destinations in the fastest time possible.”

He added the introduction of the new aircraft also allowed FedEx Express to axe two slower feeder services operated by smaller regional aircraft, as well as an A300, as part of the ongoing process of modernising its fleet.
